Rolf de Maré established and ran the Ballets Suédois in Paris from 1920-25 for his lover, choreographer and principal dancer Jean Börlin. Debussy, Satie, Honegger, Milhaud, Albéniz, Léger, Picabia, de Chirico, Bonnard all worked with the ballet.

Swedish artist Gösta Adrian-Nilsson - GAN - brought abstract art from Berlin to Sweden in 1917. He also had a not-hard-to-notice obsession with sailors.
