Artist and set designer for the Ballet Russes and the Metropolitan Opera, Serge Sudeikin lived with his wife Olga Glebova and poet Mikhail Kuzmin for a time, until Glebova kicked Kuzmin out for having an affair with her husband.

Rolf de Maré established and ran the Ballets Suédois in Paris from 1920-25 for his lover, choreographer and principal dancer Jean Börlin. Debussy, Satie, Honegger, Milhaud, Albéniz, Léger, Picabia, de Chirico, Bonnard all worked with the ballet.
