Oysters and Snails

One of the most famous scenes cut from a film is the bath scene from Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus, in which Laurence Olivier’s Crassus discusses oysters and snails with his slave, Tony Curtis’ Antoninus. The not-so-veiled references to cocks and cunts and which one prefers was too much for the censors in 1960, when the movie was released, in particular because Olivier is saying he definitely likes cocks. The scene was added back into the film in 1993 (with Anthony Hopkins dubbing in Olivier’s voice).

You can watch the clip here (although the accompanying text wrongly says the scene shows Spartacus).
